Perfume, Fragrances and Eau de whattt?

Alright, you perfectly know what I’m talking about! Lets dive into this “woman’s world” that’s also made for you, the alpha male! Don’t say “ohh that’s some BS I’m going stop reading now…”. Read this carefully! A defined lady will pick your scent up really quickly without saying much. Her subconscious mind will be already assessing you whether she should be interested in talking to you or not, trust me on that one! Smelling good is a first sign of hygiene, don’t get it twisted.

Imagine scanning the shelves, reading all those different fragrance concentrations on the bottle, ‘eau de parfum’, ‘eau de toilette’ and so on. Let me say this: There is eventually distinct differences! Lets analyse them so next time you know what’s all about an eventually you’ll sound like an expert yourself!

First thing that you should keep in mind is that any fragrance gets its smell from scented oils, which are cut with alcohol and sometimes water. Fragrances with a higher concentration of those oils generally last longer once you spritz them on.

Parfume:

The most concentrated form you can get is perfume, also known as ‘extrait de parfum’ or ‘pure perfume’ and sometimes called ‘perfume oil’. With 20% to 40% oil (but is it true?), normally it will last about 6 to 8 hours—though it could stick a bit longer. A scent that lasts all day? Then this is it, just be prepared to pay the heavy price! On the contrary you definitely receive the value.

Eau de parfum:

The previous one is not the same as this one, even though the name is pretty much the same. Eau de parfums contains 12% to 15% fragrance, a quick research gave me the response of a higher concentration of alcohol than parfum in it. Depending on how strong the scent is, it may contain slightly more concentration. It will last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours. They tend to be a lot cheaper than parfume, and with a scent that lasts almost as long as perfume. For the price quality this is the one you looking for. Chanel has now Parfum and Eau de Parfum for men, the difference in price is €10. I wouldn’t get greedy and just buy the parfume one!

Eau de toilette:

With 5% to 15% oil, an eau de toilette won’t last as long as the previous ones—typically about 2 or 3 hours. This would be the perfect one for your workspace, so you don’t have to invade your colleagues with your scents. The term eau de toilette came from the French term “faire sa toilette” which means getting ready.

If you’re interested in how to make your scent last longer?

Eau de cologne:

Eau de cologne is for everybody and it contains only 2% to 5% scented oil concentration. It only lasts a couple hours. The scents tend to be lighter, like citrus smells, and don’t have strong base notes.

Eau fraiche:

They’re made of just 1% to 3% fragrance, meaning they’ll last less than an 1 or 2 hours. While eau fraiche has a low fragrance concentration, it does not contain a high amount of alcohol. Along with the fragrance, the remainder of eau fraiche is mostly water and not perfume at all!
